WORLD POPULATION PREDICTIONS
Introduction: Based on the findings of the United Nations, the population of the world is expected to rise by an astounding 40 % in the coming 45 years. This means that the population would rise from the present 6500 million to 9.1 billion by the year 2050. It is also estimated that the population of India would not only increase but would also supercede that of China within the year 2030. Although Britain would have a higher population than France by the year 2025, it is found that the Scotland region of Britain would face a dramatic decline. Miscellaneous: Most of the displacements in the demography are attributed to the migration, mortality and the fertility. This may be due to the influences of the policies of the government as also the economic and social drifts. Although China has exercised a stern birth control policy over many years, officials are of the view that such policies need to be relaxed considering the ageing population of China. Higher fertility would see India’s population supercede China to become the most populated country in the world. The reasons cited for the population of Britain superceding France is mainly the inbound migration. It is also predicted that the population in the developed countries would stabilize. On the contrary, it is estimated that the population of Scotland would decline from the present 5 million to 4.84 million within the next two years. Population figures: Based on the estimates of the United Nations, the population of India by the year 2025 would be 1.395 billion which would reach 1.593 billion in the year 2050. In contrast, the population of China would increase to about 1.441 billion by the year 2025 and would subsequently decrease to 1.392 billion in the year 2050. The population of the United Kingdom would supercede that of France by the year 2025 increasing from the present 60 million to about 67 million by the year 2050. Within the same period, the population of France would rise from 60.5 million to about 63.1 million in a period spanning 25 years from 2025 to 2050. Although the world population would increase, the rate of growth of population is expected to stabilize. |
